My Grandma’s current #wip is one in a series of hundreds of embroidered flour sack dish towels. She probably made the crocheted coffee table doily it’s resting on too. #crafts #embroidery #crochet

The Fruit Hunters is a film about people obsessed with fruit— new tastes, adventures, smells and colors. Some of them consider themselves protectors of our botanical birthrights, striving to keep ancient strains alive. It’s right up my alley.

I just watched this documentary on Netflix, but it’s available in two parts on Youtube. Recommended if you love fruit, total weirdos, The Botany of Desire by Michael Pollan, and Bill Pullman. Mostly because his inclusion in the film seems incredibly random until you learn he’s got a huge orchard in his Hollywood Hills backyard.

If anyone knows of other great fruit and plant docs, lemme know! I might make giant fruits for a living, but there’s so much I don’t know. I’m looking forward to the farmer’s market more than usual this week!

The topic of fruit is especially enthralling now that I have developed mystery allergies to melons and strawberries. :(
